Terry is extremely proud to be invited to provide health care for women… and with women. Terry is highly respected in the field of women’s health care in the Peoria area. Professionally, Terry was educated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Bradley University and licensed as a registered professional nurse. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Illinois, College of Nursing , in 1980, and became one of the first family nurse practitioners in the area. She is proud to have been a part of that pioneering spirit carving the role of the advanced practice nurse (APN) into a trusted health care provider. Terry is currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse/nurse practitioner in Illinois and nationally board certified as a family nurse practitioner.

The role of the nurse practitioner was created to provide health and wellness care, which is why joining the innovative team with Couri Gynecology and Integrative Women’s Health, is very exciting for Terry. She has functioned in a variety of family practice settings over the past 30 years with an emphasis on holistic women’s health care, preventive care, and patient education. In the early years as an NP, she had the opportunity to help open the doors for several community health centers and provided care in the first school – based health clinic in Peoria . Promotion of healthy habits, weight management, and physical activity have been central to her practice. Her background in the prevention or treatment of chronic diseases as well as women’s health care focusing on pms, perimenopause, bioidentical hormone therapy and natural approaches to menopause gives a foundation for the “well-woman care” that she provides in collaboration with Dr. Couri and their multi-disciplinary team.

Personally, she is blessed with a supportive husband for the past 32 years. She lived with her husband and three children in Germantown Hills , Illinois for the past 27 years.  Husband, Rick , is a Professor at Illinois Central College and Manufacturing Engineer consultant for many companies in the Tri-County area. Their oldest son, Josh, age 26, is finishing his PhD at Loyola University , in Chicago , studying Psychology. Their middle son, Brad, age 23, just recently received his Bachelor of Science from Eureka College and began teaching biology as well coaching football and basketball. Their daughter, Krista, age 18, is completing her first year of college while playing softball for Illinois Central College with a career goal of becoming an advanced practice nurse. Brutus, their valley bulldog and Spunky, their cat, are also part of the family.

Much of her personal life revolves around family. Over the years with children in athletics, they have spent many evenings and summers at football fields or softball diamonds with friends and grandparents. Go Metamora Redbirds! Volunteering at  schools and teaching “healthy habits” to classes in Germantown Hills has been rewarding for Terry.  Terry and Krista spend time horseback riding and caring for their horses, Copper and Silly Filly. Krista participated in 4H and paint horse shows while Terry became the “Show Mom” and loved every minute!  They all enjoy traveling, jogging, and boating. Playing the piano, reading, shopping, and Jazzercising are also favorite pastimes.

Spiritually, they belong to the Catholic Church in Germantown Hills , St Mary of Lourdes . Over the years with children growing up, Terry volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and coordinator of some of the Confirmation Classes at their church.

All in all, Terry feels blessed with a healthy family, supportive parents, wonderful friends and family, and many years delivering women’s health care. She looks forward to providing experienced, holistic health care to women of all ages at the Couri Gynecology and Integrative Women’s Health office, and looks forward to meeting you!
